Hello, hello! Anna Wight here, sharing a Sizzix tutorial for a cute felt bunny ornament project idea with you!
This little cutie would be a wonderful addition to a special someone's Easter basket, or even as a cute spring decor item for your own china hutch! Let me show you how to create this ornament.
Using the Sizzix Bunny XL die, die cut two pieces of felt. This bunny die is a Bigz XL die, so you can die cut multiple layers at once to save time. When creating with felt, I recommend using a wool-blend felt. Not only will you have better success die cutting wool-blend felt, but it also tolerates a bit more handling without fraying.
Die cut flowers and leaves to embellish your bunny. I've chosen to use the Zinnia flower die, from Susan's Garden.
Hand stitch your two die cut bunnies together, lightly stuffing the bunny's body as you go. I chose a simple running stitch, and two strands of pink linen embroidery floss for my stitches.
Sew a button onto your bunny's face for an eye.
Tie a bow around her neck, and stitch (or glue) your flower embellishment into place. The ribbon I used on my bunny is seam binding that I hand-dyed using various colors of Distress Ink.
Finally, add a thread loop to your bunny for hanging. Place it so that the bunny hangs at the desired angle. I used the same pink linen embroidery floss for my hanging thread, and embellished the end with a vintage button.
I've mailed this little cutie off to a special someone ... I hope she enjoys it!
Thanks for joining me today! I hope you're inspired to create some fun felt ornaments using your critter and flower dies!
