Hello everyone, it's Aida here. Having been recently bitten by the book-binding bug, I've been looking for ways to combine the hand bound pages with a cover decorated using Sizzix die cuts.
Most scrappers I know love fun designs with peek-a-boo elements in them and the XL Bigz Window Box 658452 was perfect !
The die cut was used as a door, painted with Distress Paints Picket Fence and Broken China, then embossed with an Aged Aqua Embossing Powder. After that a metal embellishment was added as a door knob. I adhered the altered door on to a chipboard book cover that had a cut out the same size as the door. The effect of a peek into the first page of the mini is just so pretty and anyone would be curious to look inside !
This is how it looks on the inside of the cover.
At the top left hand corner I added die-cut branches and a bird from the Bigz Alterations Bird Branch 657833. The cream sheets of 6x13 inches Sizzles mat board are easy to die cut and some of the branches were colored with Frayed Burlap Distress Paint, while some were just inked lightly with Distress Ink Gathered Twigs. I layered the die cuts with mustard and cream pattern paper.
Do you love making mini books ? I'd love to find out if you do ! Thank you for dropping by, have a wonderful week ahead.
