Label and Frame Pop 'n Cuts cards including Video Tutorial

Hello!  Karen Burniston here with you today!  Everyone loves receiving a pop-up card! They are the ultimate "card trick" and with my Pop 'n Cuts dies, everyone can make one.

Label_tutorial_frame-400x400

You won't run out of possibilities with Pop 'n Cuts since there are three Base die options (one is exclusive to Stampin' Up!) plus 23 different inserts available immediately with three additional inserts in the Snippets collection coming this fall.

A lot of people who are new to Pop 'n Cuts will ask me which Base and which insert(s) I recommend to start their collections. For Base dies, it really comes down to personal preference about card size/shape and I show those differences in the video tutorial below. For inserts, it's also a matter of personal preference, but I always say you can't go wrong with a generic label or frame!

I challenged a bunch of my designer friends to use any of the label or frame Pop 'n Cuts inserts for a post on their personal blogs this week. They did not disappoint! A dozen inspiration photos and links are coming up. But first, let's set the scene. Here are the seven inserts I asked the designers to choose from:

Pop_n_Cuts_Labels_Frames

Before sending you out around the world to visit the designers' blogs, take a look at this video tutorial for using the Label Window Insert. The video teaches a fun technique for turning the Pop 'n Cuts Square Base into a rectangle as well as a comparison of the three bases and a tip for framing with Bigz dies.

Grab a comfy chair and a tight grip on that mouse and let's head out on an inspiration blog tour for using Label and Frame Pop 'n Cuts inserts.

Let's start in South Africa, where Anna-Karin Evaldsson has an amazing step-by-step tutorial for using the companion Funky Label and Wavy Label Framelits sets to create a cool layout background. She also demonstrates Pop 'n Cuts being used on a scrapbook page - so easy to add a card to a layout and then with a simple page protector modification, the card can be opened while the layout is in an album.

Anna-Karin used the Wavy Frame Insert in the Pop 'n Cuts Square Base for her project.

Next up, Caz Counsell has a fun birthday card showing how easily the label and frame inserts can be used as a platform to animate anything else. Since Pop 'n Cuts are integrated designs, the pattern of the background travels right onto the pop-up seamlessly.

Caz used the Label Insert in the Pop 'n Cuts A2 Card Base for this card.

Donna Wright also chose to feature the Label Insert, but she turned the card sideways and slid the insert off center to create a tri-panel card. You can learn how to do this technique by watching the "Flying by" Card Pop-up 2Torial.

Donna used the Label Insert in the Pop 'n Cuts A2 Card Base for this card.

Helen Cryer has a talent for combining elements in a way that is always over-the-top beautiful. I love what she's done here with the Frame insert for a teacher thank-you card. She's created her signature banners, too. (Bunting, as she would say!)

Helen used the Square Frame Insert in the Pop 'n Cuts A2 Card Base for this card.

Gretchen Schmidt always makes such happy cards. I love her combination of stamps on this adorable card, where she used a larger square card as her backing card - another cool adaptation of the Square Base Die.

Gretchen used the Funky Label Insert in the Pop 'n Cuts Square Base for her project.

Five of the seven inserts in the challenge have a Movers & Shapers option. This means the interior of the label is open to allow the optional use of smaller magnetic shapes to cut decorative holes in the label. You can learn all about using Movers & Shapers pieces inside Pop 'n Cuts labels by watching this video: Pop 'n Cuts with Movers & Shapers Windows

Kelly Booth illustrates this technique perfectly with this fun birthday card using the Funky Label Insert and the Tim Holtz Mustache Movers & Shapers piece.

Kelly used the Funky Label Insert in the Pop 'n Cuts Square Base for her project.

Shelly Hickox never ceases to amaze. She can craft in any style! One of my favorite all-time Shelly projects, which I'm going to include here to represent the Circle Label Insert, is her Screampunk Tag:

Shelly can make something as grungily awesome as a screampunk tag and then turn around and knock your socks off with a pretty glittery creation like this beautiful birthday card using the Label Window Insert. That butterfly banner is incredible!

Shelly used the Label Window Insert in the Pop 'n Cuts Square Base for her project.

In a cool bit of synergy Helen Cryer also used the Label Window Insert with a butterfly theme, but the results are quite a bit different. This really shows the versatility of die cutting, where YOU choose the theme, YOU choose the colors, YOU choose the textures. I love Helen's butterfly-shaped hole in the bottom right of her card. Clever!

Helen used the Label Window Insert in the Pop 'n Cuts Square Base for her project.

This is my first time featuring Raquel Mason. Raquel is a Stampin' Up! demonstrator who shows off the latest exclusive insert, the SU Label Insert plus the companion Deco Label Framelits. Anyone who is a stamper is going to love using Pop 'n Cuts with their stamps and especially the ones with matching Framelits for decorating. Framelits make cutting out stamped images very easy, as you see here with Raquel's fun stamped greeting. I love the color combination for this card.

Raquel used the SU Label Insert in the SU Pop 'n Cuts Card Base for this card.

I've frequently featured the work of Fran Sabad, also a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, who this month used the new SU Label Insert for two different cards. First up, this stunning Christmas creation with glittery snowflakes and a pop-up framed sentiment.

Fran also posted this delightful Oh Hello! card featuring the Flagpole Sizzlits Strip  suspended through the "shelf" area to hold her banners. You can learn how to do this technique by watching the Video Tutorial for the Pop 'n Cuts Call Me Card.

Fran used the SU Label Insert in the SU Pop 'n Cuts Card Base for both of her cards.

Need more Pop 'n Cuts inspiration? I pin everything I see around the web using Pop 'n Cuts dies to my various Pinterest boards.

So there you have it - over a dozen inspiring ideas for using Label & Frame Pop 'n Cuts inserts. Which insert will you pick for your next card trick?

Great tips and techniques, making the card longer and the label frame for the sentiment with the bigz, the bigz dies are my favs. Now I know I need the new dies, I already have the first pop-n-cuts with the circle label. Karen,
I absolutely love all the Pop'n Cuts dies!!!!! Just yesterday I made the floating dress card and I also made some cads using the label and frame Pop 'n Cuts die. I check every day for new ideas and have tons of them pinned for future use. I already have my Halloween and Christmas card ideas ready to start as soon as my Sizzix order gets here. I love the way different designer products from Sizzix can be interchanged. I just ordered the new magnetic pad, alas it's already on back order. Keep all those ideas coming, just wish I could do a workshop with you.

That would have been the perfect card for my now 16 year old when she was little. Pop 'n Cuts have made these cards really stand out and take them to the next level. I remember how I had to make them years ago, with slicing the cardstock with an exacta knife, not an easy task. I am so glad they are so much easier and nicer nowadays. Hi, I am new to card crafting and have just discovered the pop 'n cuts which look really awesome and easy to use. Typically me I started backwards by purchasing several of the 3d magnetic die inserts from the Sizzix clearance sale but they had none of the base dies in order to use them. How difficult could it be to obtain a base die, well very difficult it turned out.
After eight days of trawling the internet on both auction sites and craft retailers I stumbled a cross an outlet over in the USA who had a few of these left and it was time to celebrate. I am in the UK and am now awaiting eagerley for my purchase to arrive so I can use my 3d die inserts.
Why oh why has this clever system of interacting dies been discontinued, it is a concept that could have been taken so far and every card crafter I have spoken to about it has felt the same and say that they feel as though they have been cheated after spending a considerable initial outlay on base dies.
Having said this I am really looking forward to producing some inspiring designs of pop up cards.

Thank you for your message. This line of product was discontinued due to the ending of the licensing contract with the artist. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you in finding the compatible dies to make your creations and sincerely appreciate your input.
