It's hard to believe that November is now almost over! In the States, we just celebrated Thanksgiving. But no matter what part of the world you are in or what time of the year it is, having creative ideas to say thanks is always useful. Hi Sizzix friends, Mou here today with a note from a thankful heart! In my family, we celebrate being together as a family every year. I make sure to create something for each member to say why I am thankful for him or her. This year, I am using the Library Pocket die from Brenda Walton’s Favorite Things Collection along with Millinery Leaves and Tea Cup Bouquet dies with bonus Textured Impressions folders to create my personal notes of gratitude. Follow along to see how I made these pockets.
Start by die-cutting the Library Pocket using Sizzix Bigz XL Die - Library Pocket. Create the following Sizzix sandwich: Lay paper (I used watercolor paper, you can use any paper you like) face down on the blade side of the Library Pocket die. Put these pieces between a pair of Sizzix Accessory Extended Cutting Pads and run the whole sandwich through the Sizzix Big Shot machine.
Fold along the crease lines and attach with adhesive to create the Library Pocket.
Diecut the Teacup Bouquet using Sizzix Bigz Die w/Bonus Textured Impressions - Tea Cup Bouquet. Create the following Sizzix sandwich: Lay papers (I used two) face down on the blade side of the Tea Cup Bouquet die. Put these pieces between a pair of Sizzix Accessory Standard Cutting Pads and run the whole sandwich through the Sizzix Big Shot machine.
Next, repeat the same sandwich with Sizzix Bigz Die w/Bonus Textured Impressions - Millinery Leaves.
To emboss the diecut Millinery Leaves and Tea Cup, place the diecut pieces inside the corresponding Textured Impressions folders. Tape the pieces in place if you like. Just be sure to use a low tack tape like washi tape. Place the folders between a pair of Extended Cutting Pads on the Embossing tab of the Sizzix Accessory Extended Multipurpose Platform, and pass it through the Big Shot machine.
Look how beautiful these embossed pieces are!
Color the embossed designs with Gold medium. Paint works well too. If you are using cardstock or patterned paper, you could also use sanding or inking to accentuate the embossed design.
If you have used watercolor paper, paint your pieces with watercolor paints. If you are using patterned papers, you don’t need this step.
Now let’s start assembling all the pieces together. Put the Tea Cup on the Library Pocket and all the flowers and leaves to look like they are arranged in a bouquet in the Tea Cup.
Attach the re-inforcer to the narrow tag and tie a twine. I brush-lettered my sentiments. You can also stamp yours.
Write a note on the card insert for the Library Pocket and tuck it into the pocket to finish.
Hope you enjoyed today’s tutorial and have fun with these beautiful Sizzix dies!
