You're Going Love This DIY Snowglobe Card

WM Snow Globe Village Jeanne_Streiff

Hi! Jeanne here today with a colorful Christmas card using new dies from Tim Holtz.

I always enjoy using non traditional colors for holiday projects. Maybe its the rebel in me coming out. Crazy crafter! For this project I used a mishmash of patterns. pastels and bold colors to make my little village.

I picked out some patterned papers that I thought would be good for a sky (can't go wrong with polka dots) and die cut the globe, base and strip of snow from 661603 Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 23PK - Snowglobe.  All of the houses, tree and mountain dies used below are from this set. So much fun!

These mountains would make cute trees too! Oops my mind wandered...

I also cut the trees and clouds. Did you see the little creases in the trees and mountains? All you need to do is bend them and you've got some extra dimension.

Before putting anything together I sponged all the edges with gray ink.

Next I die cut all the house pieces. Lots of dies in this set!

How cute are those houses? They could be used all year long for cards and tags.

To make my background I die cut a bunch of snowflakes with 661599 Sizzix Thinlits 14PK Paper Snowflakes Mini from white cardstock and applied it to a blue panel. Easy peasy! Don't forget to use your Sizzix Die Brush & Foam Pad to get all the little paper bits from your dies.

I finished my card by adding a holly sprig and berries (661597 Sizzix Thinlits Die set 11PK Holiday Greens - Mini) to the base and added a little sparkle with some 1/32" silver tape for the border and along the base.

Hope you enjoyed my project! Have a great day!

I would do the snow globe on the front and inside a scene so when it is closed it looks like the scene is in the globe and looks 3 D. I would slightly raise the globe so there is more dimension.
