eclips FAQs

Q: What types of materials does the eclips Machine cut?
A: The eclips is designed to cut a wide range of materials – from paper, vinyl, construction paper, cardstock (light, medium and heavy), adhesive cardstock (light, medium and heavy), vellum and light chipboard.

Q: What is the cutting range of the eclips?
A: The eclips cuts thousands of shapes ranging in sizes from approximately .01" (.025cm) to 24" (61.0cm). The Cutting Mats allow you to cut paper sizes up to 12" x 12" (30.5cm x 30.5cm) or 12" x 24" (30.5cm x 61.0cm).

Q: How long does an eclips Cutting Blade last?
A: Each Cutting Blade typically lasts for 2,500 inches (6,350cm) worth of cuts, depending on the types of materials cut.

Q: Do I need a surge protector for my eclips?
A: A surge protector is recommended to protect your investment.

Q: How do I get power to the eclips?
A: Please make sure that all connections are secure and that Machine is connected to a functioning power outlet.

Q: How do I insert and remove the Cutting Mat?
A: Open Machine cover and extend tray. (The Cutting Mat can also be loaded with Machine cover closed.) Align top edge of Cutting Mat against rollers and push Load button on front right side of Machine. The Machine’s roller will start to rotate. To remove Cutting Mat, push Load button again. You can also load/unload by pressing Load/Unload button on Handheld Remote Control Keypad.

Q: How can more intricate cuts be easily removed from the Cutting Mat?
A: The set of useful tools in the Tool Kit (sold separately) helps enhance shapes and ensures easy removal from Cutting Mat.

Q: Why can’t I change the quantity when I’ve selected FILL?
A: When using FILL, you cannot change the quantity because the eclips will automatically calculate the quantity of shapes based on size of material entered and size of shape.

Q: Why doesn’t shape I’ve selected have a Pieces or Embellishments option?
A: Not all designs have Pieces or Embellishment options.

Q: How do I try a new search?
A. If a search has not provided the desired shapes you may press Search again to begin a one.

Q: If I erase a shape from FAVORITES, will it be deleted from the cartridge?
A: If you erase a shape from the FAVORITES folder, it will only be removed from this folder. To find this item again, look in its original location in the respective artwork folder.

Q: Where are ADD TO FAVS stored?
A: Your selected favorites are stored in the cartridge that was used when ADD TO FAVS was pressed. This helps save numerous favorites on many different cartridges. To see our wide selection of cartridges, visit Sizzix.com.

Q: Why did shape size change after I input my material size?
A: If the shape size is larger than material size, the machine will reset shape size to largest possible on the given material size.  You can either reduce shape size or enlarge material size.

Q: I have several designs in my Queue. How will I know if they will all fit on my material size?
A: If the designs in your Queue are too large to fit on material, the Machine will prompt you to use more than one sheet to continue.

Q: How do I get back to the place I last cut?
A: If your Cutting Mat has been unloaded, then reload your Cutting Mat and press Last Point. If you have moved your Cutting Blade away from the place you last cut, simply press Last Point.

Q: What is Stamp2Cut?
A: Stamp2Cut is a breakthrough feature on Version 3 of the eclips Electronic Shape-Cutting Machine that allows for the quickest and easiest cuts around Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous stamped images. It can be accessed on Tim Holtz® Alterations™ Stamp2Cut™ cartridges.

Q: Can I cut out stamped images other than Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous stamps?
A: As of now, the eclips is only set to work with select Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous stamped images. (Compatible stamps are listed in each Stamp2Cut cartridge booklet.)

Q: What types of material can I use with Stamp2Cut?
A: Cardstock (light, medium and heavy)
Vinyl
Chipboard (as thin as a cereal box)
Fabric (needs to have backing to stick to mat)
Craft foil
Cardstock (with an adhesive sheet backing)
Construction paper
Copy paper
Grunge paper
Shrink film
Stencil film
Almost any material that is 0.5 millimeter thick or less

Q: What are registration marks?
A: Registration marks are points on the material that the eclips uses to locate the exact coordinates of the stamped image. Once the user aligns the registration marks, the eclips can cut exactly around the stamped image without cutting into it. The marks are located on the cutting template on the upper left corner of the image and also on the bottom right corner. Align the template with your stamped image to create registration marks on your material by making a small hole.

Q: Do I have to perfectly align the template over the stamped image?
A: The more exact you are with aligning the template and the stamped image, the more precise the cut will be around the stamp. Basically, what you see within the template is what gets cut.

Q: What if my stamped image is crooked or skewed?
A: Stamp2Cut will still be able to cut out the stamped image. However, if the stamped image is skewed more than 90 degrees, then it will not be able to cut it out.

Q: Can I use Stamp2Cut with the eCAL software for the eclips?
A: No, not at this time.
