Piecing the Project

  1. Lay out WELCOME letters and bird on background and iron in place.
  2. Sew triangle units together, (1) background to (1) green print.
  3. Lay out and sew triangle units 5 down to form side borders.
  4. Lay out and sew (1) square with (10) triangle units to form top and bottom borders.

Finishing

  1. Layer the backing, batting and top. Quilt by hand or machine, as desired.
  2. Sew binding strips together to form one long strip. Fold wrong sides together lengthwise and press.
  3. With a 1/4" seam, sew the raw edges of the binding to the edges of the right side of the wall hanging. Turn the folded edge of the binding to the back side of the wall hanging and stitch in place by hand, mitering the corners.
