Notes

Piecing and Assembling the Runner Top

  1. Using the photograph as a guide, pair one solid and one print of the 3 1/2" Half Square Triangles together and sew the diagonal seam. Press.
  2. Repeat step 1 until all 3 1/2" Triangles are sewn together.
  3. Using the photograph as a guide, sew ten 3 1/2" blocks together. Press.
  4. Repeat step 3 three more times.
  5. Sew the four rows together to make the center of the table runner. Press.
  6. Sew the two 30 1/2" x 1 1/2" of brown solid to the long sides of the table runner center. Press.
  7. Sew the two 14 1/2" x 1 1/2" of brown solid to the top and bottom of the table runner center. Press.
  8. Using the photograph as a guide, pair one solid and one print of the 2 1/2" Half Square Triangles together and sew the diagonal seam. Press.
  9. Repeat step 7 until all 2 1/2" Triangles are sewn together.
  10. Using the photograph as a guide, sew sixteen 2 1/2" blocks together. Press.
  11. Repeat step 9.
  12. Sew the rows to each of the long sides of the runner. Press.
  13. Using the photograph as a guide, sew seven 2 1/2" blocks together. Press.
  14. Repeat step 12.
  15. Sew one green 2 1/2" Square on each end of the seven blocks. Press.
  16. Repeat step 14.
  17. Sew the rows to each of the short ends of the runner. Press.

Finishing

  1. Layer the backing, batting and quilt top. Quilt by hand or machine as desired. Sew the binding Strips together to form one long strip. Fold the binding in half, lengthwise, with wrong sides together and press. Sew the raw edges of the binding to the edges of the right side of the quilt. Turn the folded edge of the binding to the back side of the quilt and stitch in place by hand, mitering the corners.
