Half-Oval Purse

Fabric Requirements:

Notes:

• Finished Size: 17" x 8"
• All seam allowances are 1/4" unless noted.
• * = Adhere fusible adhesive to fabric then adhere fabric to batting.

Assembling the Project:

1. Make a horizontal marking lines on the Half-Oval die: one 8" up from curved bottom and one 6 1/2" up from curved bottom.
2. Line up two 9" x 9" front and back squares on horizontal 8" marking line on Half-Oval die. Die-cut shape.
3. Repeat with lining fabric squares.
4. Line up one 7" x 9" rectangle for flap on horizontal 6 1/2" marking line on Half-Oval die. Die-cut shape.
5. Repeat with lining rectangle.
6. Sew front to gusset matching centers. Repeat with back piece.
7. Fold front and back Half-Oval pieces in half and mark center on curved edge.
8. Fold gusset in half and mark centers on both sides.
9. With right sides together, sew flap to straight edge of back piece.
10. Sew front to gusset matching centers. Repeat with back piece.
11. Clip curved seams. Turn and press.
12. Layer, in this order, one 2 1/2" x 22" batting and two 2 1/2" x 22" orange print right sides together.
13. Stitch on long edges of handle. Turn and press. Topstitch along edges.
14. Sew handle ends to gusset ends on both sides.
15. Repeat steps 6 to 10 for lining, leaving a 3" opening.
