Day on the Farm Quilt

Fabric Requirements:

Notes:

• Finished Size: 56" x 68"
• All seam allowances are 1/4" unless noted.
• WOF = width of fabric
• * = Adhere fusible adhesive to back of fabric before die-cutting the shapes.

Piecing the Quilt:

1. Using the photo as a guide, lay out the scenes onto the 9 1/2" Squares of light blue flannel. Heat fuse in place with an iron. Stitch around the shapes as desired.
2. Lay out the blocks on a design wall or floor.
3. Using the quilt image as a guide, alternate sewing four blocks and three 2 1/2" x 9 1/2" rectangles to form a sashing and block row. Make five rows.
4. Sew horizontal rows together, starting at the top with a sashing and block row and alternating with a sashing row to form the finished quilt center.
5. Sew a 2 1/2" x 53 1/2" plaid flannel strip to each side of the quilt.
6. Sew a 2 1/2" x 46 1/2" plaid flannel strip on the top and bottom of the quilt.

Finishing:

1. Layer the backing, batting and quilt top. Quilt by hand or machine as desired.
2. Sew the binding strips together to form one long strip. Fold the binding in half lengthwise, with wrong sides together and press.
3. With a 1/4" seam, sew the raw edges of the binding to the edges of the right side of the quilt. Turn the folded edge of the binding to the back side of the quilt, and stitch in place by hand, mitering the corners.
