You're Going To Go Crazy Over These Adorable Tags!

Hi everyone, it's Audrey! I have got a super fun tag set to share with you today, featuring the fabulous new photo frames Thinlits dies from Lynda Kanase's Instant Photo Embellishments collection, along with those adorable Crazy Dogs from Tim Holtz.

What a fun combination, right? I am absolutely crazy about all these silly dogs hanging out in these sweet little frame tags. All the pups are from the Mini Crazy Cats & Dogs stamp and framelits sets, and they truly are the perfect size for the new photo frame dies. And speaking of these dies.... They are just so versatile, I know you're going to love them. Of course the frames are perfect for holding photos on scrapbook layouts or journal pages, but they are also great for so much more.

These photo frame dies come with lots of interchangeable borders and sentiments for personalizing the bottom of the frames, and you can see that I used several of the different designs here. The hardest part is choosing which piece to use. Guess I just need to make more tags!

I just love these crazy dogs! They are so cute all on their own, but add some silly photo frame props (all included in the Photo Frame & Props Thinlits set), and you truly have the most adorable mutts in town. Add these fun tags to gift packaging or treat containers for the cutest wraps around, or pop them onto a card base for a quick and easy card design. Whatever you do, I know you're going to love them.

Let's take a closer look.

Begin by die cutting the photo frame from several colors of your favorite cardstock. You can see here how the bottom portion of the frame is open, allowing you to place any number of interchangeable border or sentiment pieces into the bottom opening before die cutting. To die cut with Thinlits and Framelits dies, use this standard Sizzix die cutting sandwich: Magnetic Platform, Standard Cutting Pad, paper, die (cutting side down), Standard Cutting Pad. Roll this sandwich through your die cutting machine.

Continue die cutting photo frames, as needed. I used two of the photo frame Thinlits sets for my tag: Photo Frame & Borders and Photo Frame & Props. Be sure to check out Lynda's October release for even more frame die options!

To turn the photo frames into tags, simply cut a second piece of cardstock the same size as the frame to use as the backing. I knew I wanted to do some water coloring on my tags, so I used a heavyweight watercolor paper for the back of the tags. Also, save those little negative heart pieces that you die cut from the heart border. We'll use those as embellishments a little later on.

Use your Distress Inks to add a splash of watercolor to the background of the tags. I chose colors that coordinated nicely with the colors of cardstock that I used. Once the papers have dried for a few moments, spritz them with clear water using a Distress Sprayer to create unique patterns on the background. And then set aside to the paper to dry completely.

While the watercolor paper is drying, stamp the Mini Crazy Dogs onto watercolor paper using Archival Ink, and then die cut them with the matching Framelits dies. Watercolor the images using Distress Inks. You'll notice I left the collar of one of my doggies uncolored, because we'll be covering it up with a photo prop later. Once of the watercolors are completely dry, add Glossy Accents to each dog nose and eye, and let dry. Apply adhesive around the edge of the photo frames, and adhere them to the watercolor backgrounds. Tuck a pup into each frame, and adhere in place. I adhered the legs flat to the tag, but popped up sections of the head and ears with a bit of foam tape for some extra dimension.

Next, die cut a variety of photo props from the Photo Frames & Props Thinlits die set. I used the same cardstock that I used for the photo frames. And then have fun adding the accents, along with the leftover hearts you saved from before.

I used a pencil to make a light mark in the top center of each frame, and punched a small hole using my 1/8" hole punch. Thread the hole with your favorite ribbon or twine, and tie them into a big bow. SO cute! Now I want to add photo props to all my little characters and critters!
