Hi everyone, it's Audrey! Do you have any animal lovers on your friends and family list? Well, get set then, because today we're going Doggone Cute on the blog with fun new stamps and dies by Sizzix designer Stephanie Barnard!
Cute, right? I am just crazy about that sweet little dog from Stephanie's new Doggone Cute Framelits with stamps set, being the dog lover that I am. I thought this little pooch would be just adorable paired with these fun new sentiment circle dies on a set of shaped gift tags.
I made these tags like mini cards, that open with room for handwritten messages on the inside. Love that little extra special interactive element on a simple tag.
I've got the full tutorial to share with you, so let's take a closer look.
Begin by creating a small notecard from white cardstock that is slightly larger than the largest layering circle shape. In these new Word Circles sets, the largest circle is 3", so I made my notecards 3.25" square.
Place the circle die down onto the notecard so that one cutting edge goes slightly off the top of the card along the scored fold line. And then die cut the card using this standard die cutting sandwich for Thinlits and Framelits dies: Magnetic Platform, Standard Cutting Pad, paper, die (cutting side down), Standard Cutting Pad.
Die cut the same circle shape from patterned paper next. Adhere the patterned paper onto the tag card base.
Nestle the sentiment circle shape inside the layering circle, and hold the two dies together with a bit of washi or post-it tape.
Die cut the frame three times from white cardstock and once from red cardstock. Stack and adhere the frames together, with the red die cut on top. This is a great way to add a bit of dimension to any die cuts.
Now stamp the doggy onto watercolor paper using a waterproof black ink, and then die cut the shapes using the matching die. Color the dogs using your favorite watercolor medium. I used Zig Clean Color Markers on mine.
Place the doggy behind the sentiment frame and adhere in place. Trim off any excess image from the edge of the tag. Adhere the frame to the top of the tag. Punch a hole at the top, and tie with ribbon. I added a stamped and die cut dog bone from the set to my bow for a bit of extra detail.
And finally, add some stamping to the inside of the tag to finish things off.
