It’s The Smitten Chicken back again with another fun Sizzix® summer project—doll sandals! I have four girls, so dolls are a big deal around here. I was excited to try out the Sizzix Bigz™ XL Die - 18" Doll Shoes by Kid Giddy® using some of the cutest pineapple fabric I found. If you want a quick summer project, then these fun pineapple doll sandals are just the thing!

Die-cut the 18" Doll Shoes (using the base shape and strap shape on the die) out of the fabric of your choice, lining fabric and batting. (Tip: You can layer up to eight pieces of fabric and die-cut them at the same time!)
Everything is die-cut perfectly! You will have 12 die-cut shapes: two base shoes (left and right) and two straps in the patterned fabric, lining fabric and batting. Here’s another trick: Place the fabric folded together on the die before die-cutting to ensure you don’t end up with two left feet!
Layer each sandal strap in this order: batting, fabric and lining fabric. Then, sew all the way around each strap, leaving one end open. You’ll use a 1/4" seam for the pieces of the project.
Use scissors to cut little notches into the edges of the fabric, as shown in the photo. Be careful not to cut into your stitches. Turn the straps inside out with a turning tool, and the lining will now be on the back of the straps.
Repeat the same process above for the shoe base shapes.
Pin a shoe strap to a shoe base and sew together.
Repeat for the other foot. I love these pineapple sandals so much!
Now I’m off to make more so the girls don’t fight over these doll sandals!
