Hello! Jessee here, from an Art School Dropout’s life, with a little teaser for a tutorial coming this summer.
I used the Bigz Plus Die Half Oval 8" that was revealed at Quilt Market this week to create this trio of pouches.
I made each pouch about 1.25" taller than the next, which created a cascade effect when they are stacked on top of each other.
I went a little basic when it came to the colors, but I made sure the fabric I used had a lot of texture either because of the weave or the print.
I also used three different tones of blue zippers to add that next level of awesome. It's a nice pop of color and it looks so cool when stacked like this.
The lining is an almost neon yellow on all three pouches. It's Robert Kaufman's Kona Color of the Year fabric that is called Highlight to be exact. I love it, and it's a great surprise when you open the pouches.
Thanks to the design of the die, and a little trick i can't wait to share, these pouches actually went together super quick! I finished all three in a hour.
I have the pleasure of attending Quilt Market this year and these pouches are perfect for holding my promotional postcards, business cards and my portable power banks. All things I need to keep on me while walking the floor. Plus, it's always a good thing to carry SOMETHING handmade while at a trade show geared towards makers. I would feel naked otherwise.
I'm so excited to see all the other new dies that were announced this week at the show, along with hundreds of other amazing products. Keep an eye on the blog here for all the new dies and I bet there will be a Quilt Market recap too. Also check back later in the summer for a full step by step tutorial for making these pouches. I won't skip a single step.
