Hello Sizzix fans, I am Aida from Life and Paper Crafting. Now seriously, how can anyone not LOVE getting a lovely handmade card ? There are so many ways to create a card and truthfully a pretty card will always make someone happy. Katelyn Lizardi has just released the sweetest Gatefold card set Hello Friend that takes all the hard work out of card making and with 9 pieces in the set, you'll never run out of ways to use the dies.
The central Flower accent is designed to pop up and creates this unusual focal point.
The intricate florals are just beautiful!
It is indeed a Happy Day for the special person this card is given to. I am addicted to using Glitter cardstock for words and sentiments for the popping effect it gives.
This is Katelyn Lizardi's die set and what's so great about the newer packages is the instructions on the back of the paper inserts. The clear photos are a tremendous help for those new to die-cutting, including further instructions you can download from the Sizzix website : HERE
These are the 9 pieces in the set.
Using the 2 larger dies, die cut the Gatefold in white cardstock. The short piece on the right is the flap for the inside of the card.
Next I chose a patterned paper with details I wanted for the 2 front pieces of the card. Place the front panel of the main die over the paper and run through your Big Shot.
Trim off the pieces of patterned paper to fit the front panels and glue them down.
I used the same paper for the inside flap.
After adhering the paper, fully press down the sides of the card with a bone folder.
Next is the central floral accent for the card. Following the instructions on the paper insert of the package, die cut the 2 pieces of flowers and fold each flower along the central score line. The middle of the flower can be teased up to make it pop.
I made use of the Precision Base Plate for intricate dies in this step. If you need more help with using this, you can watch a video on the Sizzix website that shows you how to use this item : Sizzix You Tube Channel
This is the shadow die for the underside of the flower. Trim the shape into half, one for each side of the card front.
Adhere the flower halves to the card front.
Add a matching ribbon to complete the card.
Finish the inside of the card as you see here ...... that's it, you are done!
Can you imagine the delight of the person receiving this card? I hope you find this post inspiring and will try creating a card using the different die shapes in the set, happy crafting!
