Make a Leprechaun Hat Favor Box for St. Patrick’s Day

Hi, it’s Suzanne from Sizzix, and today it’s all about celebrating St. Patrick's Day!  I have created Leprechaun Favor Boxes filled with chocolate coin treats. These boxes are fun and easy to make with the Animal Box #2 Bigz™ L Die. We’ll also be using the must-have Crease & Curl™ tool to add character and dimension to the rainbow handle of the party boxes.

How to make:

Die-cut two of the box shapes from the Box, Animal #2 die out of green cardstock.

Fold along the score lines, and assemble the box. Adhere the tabs on the bottom of the box with 1/2" double-sided tape, and the sides of the box with 1/8" double-sided tape.

Die-cut one of the straps from the Book Closures die out of black cardstock.

Die-cut the round buckle from the Book Closures die out of gold glitter cardstock.

Feed the strap through the buckle and adhere it to the box about 1/4" from the bottom. Cut off any excess.

Die-cut three hearts from the Heartfelt die out of gold glitter cardstock.

Die-cut the tree limb from the Sloth die out of light green cardstock.

To create the shamrock, layer the gold hearts in a fan shape to create the leaves of the shamrock and adhere with liquid adhesive.

Adhere the tree limb to the back of the shamrock to make the stem. Cut off the excess.

Adhere a button to the center of the shamrock with liquid adhesive.

Adhere the shamrock to the top right hand side of the box.

Die-cut one of the banners from the Book Closures die out of red, yellow and blue cardstock.

Layer the red, yellow, and blue banners together, overlapping just a bit to create a rainbow color palette, and adhere together.

Use the Crease & Curl Tool to curl the layered banners to be easier to use as the handle of the box.

Adhere this handle to the inside of the favor box.

I hope you give these favor boxes a try. This die can make party favors for so many different party themes—it is an essential just for the base alone. Get creative with embellishments and you can make everything from pandas to leprechauns, perfect for celebrating the greenest holiday of the year!
