Make a Wish With This Gorgeous Flutter DIY!

Hi there, Sizzix fans, and happy August to all of you! It's Audrey here with you today with a bit of quick inspiration featuring some brand new products in the Tim Holtz collection. I have got a fun mini-card project to share today, made with the amazing new Flutter line of dies and stamps by Tim Holtz, Sizzix, and Stamper's Anonymous.

This bold mini-card is a bit different from the norm in that it is a petite 4.5" square design. Perfect for a standard greeting card, but also works well as a gift-enclosure card, or even a hang tag, too. I gave the design a modern feel by using lots of black and white papers and images, accented with a glamorous touch of gold. Then one strong pop of color makes the focal image shine.

I love seeing the Monarch butterflies out in my summer garden, so went with those traditional colors in my focal butterfly here. The fun thing about this card is that you could easily switch up the colors and change the entire look into any number of real or imagined butterfly designs.

To create this design, start with stacking layers of white and black cardstock. I used two of the new Tim Holtz Stitched Square dies nested together to die cut a frame for the center tag. Then simply stamp a variety of Flutter images onto the white paper using crisp black ink. I added a bit of splatter and gold foil accents for additional details. The tag was also die cut, stamped, and tied to the top of the frame with black ribbon. I cut a large V-notch into the bottom of the tag, which is a great way to turn a basic tag shape into a whole new style.

The focal butterfly was stamped once onto the tag base, and a second time onto watercolor paper, which was then die cut with the matching Flutter die and water-colored with Distress Inks. I adhered only the center of the die cut butterfly onto it's base, and pulled up gently on the wings for a bit of lifelike dimension.

Hope I've inspired you to try out some Flutter papercrafting this summer! Enjoy!
