Hello, hello! Anna Wight here with a Sizzix Tutorial for you. Today I’m sharing a quick and easy Lori Whitlock Scalloped Handle Bag which I embellished with a fun Poodle from Jen Long’s 1950′s Sizzix collection.
I started my project by adhering black and silver glittered card stock to a piece of medium weight chipboard. I wanted my poodle embellishment to have good strength, since I planned on adhering it to the front of the gift bag with dimensional adhesive.
I used my Big Shot to die cut the Poodle and bow, Scalloped Handle Bag, and also a bone which you will see later in the tutorial.
The Scalloped Handle Bag is an XL die, so I used an Extended Cutting Pad and the Extended Premium Crease Pad when cutting out the pieces for the bag. I chose pretty pink card stock for my 1950's inspired project.
Once the bag was die cut, I folded along the score lines which were created when the pieces were die cut with the Extended Premium Crease Pad. Using strong adhesive I adhered the sides of the bag in place.
The bag comes together really quickly and easily, and has the cutest little cuts for the closure!
Once the bag was assembled, I decorated both sides of the bag with a couple stripes of glittered card stock. The stripes were inspired by sleeve stripes on varsity sweaters I've seen in photos from the 1950's.
To create a bone shaped glittered charm, I adhered glittered card stock to both sides of a piece of medium weight chipboard. I die cut the bone shape using the Scotty Dog with Bone Bigz die (retired). I punched a hole in the bone with a small hole punch, and used silver thread to attach it to the bag like a charm.
I adhered the poodle to the front of the bag using foam adhesive, and my gift bag is ready for gift giving!
Thanks so much for joining me today!
