Hello Sizzix friends! Michelle here from Michelle's Party Plan-It with some Sizzix Inspiration for a Glitter Desk Set using new Vintage Kitchen dies by Eileen Hull. I love this new line, there are so many possibilities to create fun and thoughtful gifts. My boys and I created these fun glittery photo frames and matching pencil box for my Mom's desk.
To create the desk set, you will need the Sizzix Big Shot, Little Sizzles Mat Board, Cookie Jar Sizzix Bigz Die, Mug and Spoon Sizzix Bigz Die and the Scoreboards XL Canister die. You will also need Standard and Extended Cutting Pads.
Starting with the Canister die and black mat board, create a sandwich and pass it through the Big Shot. A sandwich consists of one extended cutting pad, the Canister XL die, mat board and a second cutting pad. Assemble the canister per the instructions found here, you will not need to assemble the lid. I find a hot glue gun works best when assembling the mat board. Once assembled, using a paint brush, cover the entire outside of the canister with Mod Podge. Next, sprinkle glitter over the entire area and let dry.
Mug Picture Frame
Create a sandwich with the Mug and Spoon Bigz die, mat board and two Standard Cutting Pads and then pass it through the Big Shot. Repeat so that you have two mug die cuts. Next, repeat the process but this time die cut your favorite photo for the frame. Once you have your photo die cut, adhere it to one of the mug die cuts. Next cut the second die cut so that you only have 1/4 of the mug and the entire handle remaining. Then cover with mod podge and glitter and adhere to the front of your photo. For the spoon, make a sandwich with a strip of scrap glitter paper, Mat Board and two Standard Cutting Pads and pass it through the Big Shot. Adhere the two spoon die cuts together with hot glue and adhere the spoon to your photo frame.
To create the easel, adhere a scrap piece of mat board to the back of the mug.
Cookie Jar Photo Frame
Create a sandwich with the Cookie Jar Sizzix Bigz die, Mat Board and two Standard Cutting Pads and then pass it through the Big Shot. Repeat so that you have two cookie jar die cuts. Next, repeat the process but this time die cut your favorite photo for the frame. Once you have your photo die cut, adhere it to one of the cookie jar die cuts. To frame your photo, cut an opening in the second cookie jar using a Movers and Shapers Magnetic die of your choice and the Base Tray. I used the Mini Baroque die for my frame to fit my photo. To use the Mini Baroque Movers and Shapers Magnetic Die, place one cutting pad down, then the Base Tray. Position the Mini Baroque die over the area you want to cut out of the Cookie Jar so it's nice and centered, then put them into the Base Tray, with the magnetic side of the die in first. You'll feel it magnetize to the Base Tray. Top that sandwich with another cutting pad and roll it through your Sizzix Big Shot Machine. Next cover the exposed part of the cookie jar with mod podge and glitter then adhere it to the front of your photo and adhere the second cookie jar die cut to the back. Lastly, add a piece of scrap mat board for the easel on the back of your cookie jar frame.
Next fill your pencil box with your favorite pens and pencils and voila, you have a unique glittery desk set! It's the perfect gift for grandparents and teachers too!
Thank you for visiting and I hope you are inspired to create your own little set of desk accessories!
