Hey friends! Adrianne here with you today to share a sweet and simple treat gift. I love making easy homemade goodies and sharing them with people I love. Today I've got a quick & easy peanut cluster recipe to share with you, so it's only fitting to wrap it up with Brenda Walton's adorable Elephant Sizzix Bigz die, don't you think?
For this quick inspiration, consider using your favorite shaped dies not just to embellish traditional cards, but to actually create fun-shaped cards. This cute elephant is great for baby showers, for kids, or for any animal lover. It's adorable, and the perfect size to become a card!
I paired it up with the new Sizzix Daisy Bouquet Thinlits die set, and embellished a Sweet Treat Bag Sizzix Bigz L die. All these dies are part of the new Brenda Walton designs, and I went simple with some colorful patterned papers and minimal embellishment, because my style is to keep it simple when giving food gifts.
Sandwich the Sizzix Bigz L dies between a Standard Cutting Pad and a Premium Crease Pad twice to make two die cuts for your treat bag. You will also need to use the Sizzix Magnetic Platform to die-cut some floral embellishments from the daisy set. Sandwich your die and paper between two Standard Cutting Pads, place on top of the Magnetic Platform and roll through your Sizzix Big Shot machine.
To create the card, score and fold a piece of card stock that's 7 inches x 10 inches, creating a 5x7 size card. Position the fold just short of the elephant's top edge, so that part of the fold remains intact when you die-cut it.
I couldn't resist adding just one flat-backed adhesive pearl for my sweet elephant's eye, and I attached a layered daisy to the top corner of my assembled treat bag after punching a pair of holes in the top so that I can tie a slim ribbon on my peanut cluster gift.
These easy treats are no-bake, and just 3 ingredients - and they're a perfect sweet-salty balance. You will need about an hour to let them set up, but active prep for this recipe is only 15-20 minutes, making it a great last-minute gift.
Striped Chocolate Peanut Clusters:
- 1 c. dry-roasted peanuts
- 1/2 c. white chocolate melting wafers
- 2 Tbsp. milk chocolate melting wafers
In a microwave-safe dish or bowl (I like the convenience of a coffee mug), melt 1/2 cup of white melting wafers according to the package directions (which will vary slightly by brand). Stir often; they retain their shape until stirred.
Stir in 1 cup of peanuts, coating them completely.
Drop small clusters onto wax paper. Allow to cool and set slightly for about 15 minutes.
In a second microwave-safe dish, melt 2 Tbsp. milk chocolate wafers. Drizzle "stripes" over white clusters by dipping a spoon in the milk chocolate, and moving it quickly back and forth over the clusters. Allow clusters to cool and set fully for about an hour (this process can be speeded up in the refrigerator if necessary), and package in an airtight bag.
Once your treats are bagged up in plastic, just slip them into the paper treat bag, and tie the bag off with a ribbon for an instant (and adorable) gift that's perfect as a party favor, a birthday, or just-because treat for a great friend!
Thanks for joining me today, I'll see you guys again soon!
