Hello, hello! Anna Wight here with a bit of Sizzix Inspiration for you. Before we know it, we will be in full swing of the holiday season! Get a head start on things by whipping up a few holiday tags to have on hand for those last minute gifts, cookie exchanges, and such.
Today I’m sharing six gift tags I made using the Retro Ornament Bigz die. Bigz dies are easy to cut. Just sandwich your material and die between a pair of Standard Cutting Pads and put it through your Sizzix Big Shot machine. The Retro Ornament die cuts three different ornament shapes, along with lots of little circles, diamonds, and even a bow to embellish your ornament. I chose to die cut designer paper from the Handmade Holiday line by Simple Stories. I love the country flair of that paper series!
For the base of my tag used the tag die from the Stocking & Tag Sizzix Thinlits set from BasicGrey. Thinlits dies are fun and easy to use! Just sandwich your paper and die between a pair of Standard Cutting Pads while using a Magnetic Platform to help keep the Thinlit dies just where you want them on your paper. And put it through the Big Shot machine. Quick and easy! I chose to embellish my retro ornament shapes with shapes cut with the Holiday Greens Sizzix Thinlits with designs by Tim Holtz.
Just for you, in addition to the three country themed tags, I also made three tags that are quite retro using the same dies! Look how different these tags are than the country themed tags. By simply changing the colors and a few small details, it was so easy to create an entirely different set of tags!
I love the clean and simple look these have, and with the added touch of glitter and foil papers, they 'scream' retro!
You might notice the faux stitching lines down the centers of the holly leaves. Those lines are not part of the original die -- I added those lines with my seamstress tracing wheel after I had the leaves die cut. Aren't they fun!?
I think it's wonderful to see how, by simply changing colors and a few small details, you can achieve totally different styles of projects with the same Sizzix dies!
Thanks for joining me today! I hope you are inspired to make some fun holiday tags, in a variety of styles!
