Hello, hello! Anna Wight here with a Sizzix Tutorial for you! Today I’m sharing a very simple, yet beautiful ornament you can make for your tree, or even as embellishments for the top of gift boxes. I also think making a set of these to give as a gift would be perfect! Sometimes you just need a little something extra to fill in a spot on the tree. Let me show you just how easy it is to make these beauties!
I selected a pretty bronze colored glitter paper from the Christmas Glitter stack from American Crafts. While I chose bronze, the Prancing Deer Sizzix Bigz die would also be beautiful done in silver, gold, white, or even pink glitter paper if you're looking for ways to really sparkle up this year's tree! Adhere the glitter paper to one side of a piece of Mat Board. I chose to use Black Mat Board, but you could also use white.
Place the paper and the die between two Standard Cutting Pads and run it through your Big Shot.
Punch a hole in the deer with a small hole punch. Thread a button with twine, and pass the ends of the twine through the hole you made in the deer. This will allow your button to sit flat on the front side of your ornament, and allow you a string for hanging.
I chose to dress up my ornaments a bit more by embellishing them with leaves from the Holiday Greens Thinlits set from Tim Holtz. To cut Thinlits in the Big Shot machine layer the Magnetic Platform, one Standard Cutting Pads, the die, your paper, and another Standard Cutting Pads. Once the card stock was cut, I lightly inked the edges of the holly leaves with brown Distress Ink. Using a seamstress tracing wheel, I added a line of faux stitching down the center of each leaf -- one of my favorite details to add to any project!
I snipped the holly leaves from their branch and tucked them underneath the button, and adhered them in place.
These are very easy ornaments to make, and they're beautiful on the tree! The glitter paper creates lots of sparkle and shine.
Thanks so much for joining me today! I hope you found my tutorial inspiring!
