Hello crafters! Welcome to the Sizzix Blog. I am Aida, back with a Sizzix Tutorial to help you with your Christmas crafting. I've made a panel with the finished size of height 7 inches, 5 inches across the top and this idea can easily be used for a card.
Have you been stuck on a color combination you totally love and cannot seem to get enough of? For me it has been cream, grey, gold and silver with bits of mustard. Not truly Christmas, but I love how it looks: elegant and understated.
The silver glitter card stock collar added a fun sparkle to the Prancing Deer and the vellum pocket with the shadow of the stars inside created an interesting layer.
The Styled Labels die has been a long time favourite.
To start I used vellum to create a shaker pocket with the Alterations Pocket Envelope. To die cut, place the vellum on the die with the cutting side up and sandwich with a Standard Cutting Pad and a Crease Pad. Roll the sandwich through the Sizzix Big Shot.
This is how the vellum die cut looks.
Next using the Alterations Crescent Moon and Stars die cut as many stars as you like in white cardstock to fill the pocket.
Here you see the pocket envelope has been folded into shape and glued together. Fill it up with the stars and glue the flap at the end.
Die cut a Prancing Deer in a patterned paper with Script details.
Paint with Distress Tarnished Brass and while the paint is still wet, pour clear embossing power over the shape. Don't worry if not all of the Deer is completely covered. Heat emboss to melt the powder. You will see I left some of the script showing.
To use the Playful Sizzix Textured Impressions embossing folder by Stephanie Barnard, make sure the Multipurpose Platform is on Tab 1. Place the white card stock inside the embossing folder and sandwich with the Cutting Pads, then run through the Sizzix Big Shot.
Remove the card stock from the folder and mist with Distress Spray Brushed Pewter. While still wet, pour clear embossing powder over and shake it off. Use a heating tool to emboss.
The next step is to die cut a Bracket in cream card stock with the Styled Label die. Trim the label across 1/3 and paint the edges with Distress Paint Tarnished Brass, then add any Christmas sentiment you like. I've used the Idea-ology Christmas Time Remnant Rub.
Cover a 5 x 7 inches chipboard with dark grey patterned paper. Add brads to the label and adhere to the top of the chipboard.
Finally, assemble the panel as you see in the main picture at the top and you are done!
Thank you for joining me these few minutes. We are coming to a very busy time of the year and I hope you can make time to finish handmade gifts, they are always appreciated. Happy crafting!
