Hello, hello! Anna Wight here with a Sizzix Tutorial for you! Today I’m sharing a wool felt needle book I made using the Tim Holtz Pumpkin Parts Bigz die. This is a super easy project that can be made in less than an hour. Let me show you how to whip this little cutie up!
You want to choose a wool, or wool blend felt for your project. Wool and wool blend felt will hold up much better than a basic acrylic craft felt. I'm using wool blend felts from The Stamps of Life. Die cut the felt with the Pumpkin Parts Bigz die between two cutting pads using your Big Shot.
Die cut enough pieces so that you have a front cover (orange), one or two middle pages (yellow), and a backside (orange) for your needle book. You will also want to die cut the layering pieces (orange) for the front, as well. And don't forget the stem (green)!
Using coordinating embroidery floss, hand stitch the layering pieces to the front of your needle book. You can use simple running stitches, or fancier embroidery stitches. Your stitches don't have to be perfect, nor do they need to be fancy. Running stitches are cute, and easy!
Once the layering pieces and stem are stitched in place, layer the pieces you cut for your pages, along with the backside, together with the front. Whip stitch the layers together at the top of the pumpkin. These stitches will keep all of the layers in place, together. Finally, decorate your needle book with a cute bow and button.
Once your layers are all stitched together, you can add needles and pins to your needle book for safe keeping. Wool and wool-blend felts do a wonderful job securing needles for storage!
I'm super happy with how this project turned out! Now, I wonder what other die cut shapes I can use to create needle books!
Thanks so much for joining me today! I hope you found my tutorial inspiring!
