While I love bright bold colors a lot, sometimes I am in the mood for a softer shabby chic project. That's exactly what the Sizzix Bigz XL die Victorian Frame inspired me to create. Let me walk you through my steps.

Pick a couple of coordinating patterned papers, one of them preferably double-sided. Lay the Victorian Frame die blade-side up on the Sizzix Accessory Extended Cutting Pad. Place a patterned paper on the base part of the frame on the die and a double-sided patterned paper on the top part that will have fold-over flaps. Lay the other Extended Cutting Pad over the patterned papers. Run the whole sandwich through the Sizzix Big Shot machine to die cut the Victorian Frame pieces.

Following the instructions on the package insert, roll the flaps of the frame over using a pencil.

Hold the flaps down in place with brads. I used alphabet brads from my stash, you can use any kind of brads, buttons, or eyelets you have. Layer the top part on the base part with foam adhesive tape to complete assembling the frame.

Select various patterned papers from your stash to diecut the embellishments. It's a great way to use up the small scraps we all save.

On a Sizzix Accessory Standard Magnetic Platform for Wafer-thin Dies, lay a Standard Cutting pad. Place dies from Sizzix Thinlits Floral Wreath Die set, blade-side up on the Standard Cutting Pad. Lay patterned papers on top of the dies and cover with another Standard Cutting Pad. Pass the whole sandwich through the Sizzix Big Shot machine to die cut the pieces to embellish your frame with. The magnets in the Standard Magnetic Platform  help hold the dies securely in place to keep them from moving while die-cutting allowing for neat and precise cuts.

Tuck some wreath pieces under the top flap of the frame, layer others, and attach some to decorate the frame. Add gold paint to gild some of the pieces.

This is what my decorated frame looked like at this stage.

Finally, cut a piece of chipboard slightly bigger than the Victorian Frame. Paint it to match the frame and attach behind the Victorian Frame as shown to finish.

Hope you enjoyed today's post and will try out this lovely dies in your own projects!
