Sizzix Tutorial | Spring Milk Carton by Anna Wight

Hello, hello! Anna Wight here, with a Sizzix tutorial on how to make some adorable spring, or even Easter, themed favors using the Sizzix Milk Carton Thinlits die.

The Milk Carton thinlets die creates a cute little carton, the perfect size for filling with treats or small gifts. Let me show you how to put this project together.

To begin, I made paper selections for my project. I chose this cute spring colored patterned paper, and because it's double-sided, my carton will be cute on the inside, too! I have coordinating prints as well, which I will use for creating embellishments for my project. Once the carton was die cut, I die cut a little egg shaped peek-a-boo window in my carton using an egg shaped die from the Sizzix Egg framelits set.

If you make peek-a-boo windows in your cartons, you will want to have a clear material to act as the glass in the window of your carton. I chose to cut a rectangle from one of the Sizzix embossing folder packaging containers I've saved, and it worked great! I assembled the carton and adhered the clear acetate to the inside of the carton using double-sided adhesive.

Next I prepared my embellishments. I chose to use this super cute little chick from the Sizzix Easter framelits and stamp set. I stamped the chick on watercolor paper with black StazOn ink.

Next, I colored the stamped chick using watercolor pencils and a water brush. Quick and easy!

Using the egg shaped dies from the same Easter stamp and framelits set, I die cut several eggs from coordinating papers. I also created a small grass border using the grass stamp and die from the same set. I die cut the chick, and added a red heart gem over top of where the heart was stamped on the chick.

Once my stamped and die cut pieces were ready, I added them to my assembled carton, making sure to leave a little bit of the egg shaped peek-a-boo window showing.

To dress up the carton even more, I created some butterfly embellishments from coordinating papers. To create the butterflies, I die cut the designer paper using the Sizzix Butterfly Frenzy decorative strip die. Once the butterflies were die cut, I inked the edges of their wings with coordinating Distress Inks and added self-adhesive gems to their centers.

I created a sentiment banner using a sentiment from the Easter stamp and framelits set, and embellished it with more butterflies. To close the carton, I chose a coordinating colored mini binder clip from my stash. Another quick and easy accessory!

I love that they can be dressed up, or left clean and simple, and either way they are cute as can be!

Adorable little treat box, Anna. Love how you added dimension to the chick and eggs. I recently bought this die and have a ton of ideas for it. It's one of those dies you MUST own, in my opinion:) Happy Spring!!!

Thank you for the adorable milk carton creation. This die is one of my favorites. I just finished making a dozen, to hold Halloween treats. Also a great way to give $ gifts, to teen aged grandchildren.
