Hi there, it's Laura from Make Life Lovely, and today I'm sharing a gorgeous modern tree card with you! My husband and I have planted about 30 fruit trees in our backyard in the last few months and are growing our own orchard. The trees are still young but it's so exciting to watch the fruit that we have blossom and grow. In the next five years we're hoping to have lots of fruit year round that we can enjoy and give and share with friends and family!
As soon as I saw the new Tree Gatefold Card Thinlits die set, I knew that it would be the perfect card to make and give away with the fruit from our orchard in a few years. It has lots of intricate details and beautiful intertwined branches, but this could really couldn't be any easier to make!
First I made a Sizzix sandwich by stacking my Magnetic Platform, a cutting pad, a piece of white cardstock, the Tree Gatefold Card die, then another cutting pad. I rolled it through my Big Shot machine and ended up with the card base.
I folded along the lines, then die cut the inside of the card from a piece of orange paper from the Sizzix Fox Tales Paper Pad. I glued the orange piece to the inside of the card.
Next I die cut two of the word dies onto white card stock that came with the die set, "thanks" and "friend." I used a little glue on the end of each word to attach one word on each side.
When the card opens up, the words open up with it. I love how clean, crisp, and modern this card is. The orange background really makes the white tree and words pop.
Now I just have to wait for my trees to produce lots of fruit, and I'll be passing out these cards to everyone I know, along with a big basket of homegrown, organic fruit. Wish me luck!
