Notes:
- Finished Size: 44" x 60"
- All seam allowances are 1/4" unless noted.
- WOF = width of fabric
- LOF = length of fabric
Piecing the Blocks:
- Match a Background Arch of one fabric with a Quarter Circle of the other fabric. Fold both pieces in half along the curved edge to find the center. Finger press. Match the curves at the center and the ends. Sew the curved seam and press towards the Arch. This will make a 4 1/2" square.
- Continue to make the squares in this manner until you have sewn all the Background Arches to the Quarter Circles. There will be 48 units with KD-11 as the Background Arch/KD-12 Quarter Circles and 48 with KD-12 as the Background Arch/KD-11 Quarter Circles.
Assembling the Quilt Blocks:
- Diagram 1 shows four quilt blocks separated by blue lines. Using it as a guide, arrange the blocks in four rows of four. Repeat to make six blocks. Press.
Assembling the Quilt:
- Arrange the blocks into three rows of two blocks. Sew the rows together and press the seams to one side.
- Sew the rows together to make the center of the quilt. Press.
- Sew the five 1 1/2" x WOF strips of leaf green into one long strip. From this strip cut two 48 1/2" x 1 1/2" and two 34 1/2" x 1 1/2".
- Sew the two 48 1/2" x 1 1/2" strips to the long sides of the quilt center. Press.
- Sew the two 34 1/2" x 1 1/2" strips to the top and bottom of the quilt center. Press.
- Sew the two 50 1/2" x 5" strips to the long sides of the quilt center. Press.
- Sew the two 44" x 5" strips to the top and bottom of the quilt center. Press.
Finishing:
- Sew the two 1 1/2 yd pieces together along the selvedge edge to make the backing.
- Layer the backing, batting and quilt top. Quilt by hand or machine, as desired.
- Sew the binding strips together to form one long strip. Fold the binding in half, lengthwise, with wrong sides together and press.
- Sew the raw edges of the binding to the edges of the right side of the quilt. Turn the folded edge of the binding to the back side of the quilt and stitch in place by hand, mitering the corners.
