Gertrude Flew the Coop Wall Hanging

Fabric Requirements:

Note:

• Finished Size: 22" x 31"
• All seam allowances are 1/4" unless noted.
• Fat 1/8 = approximately 9" x 22"
• * = Adhere fusible adhesive to back of fabric before die-cutting the shapes.

Piecing the Project:

1. Assemble a Chicken on each of the four background Squares and Rectangles. See photo above for reference.
2. Heat fuse in place with an iron. Stitch around the shapes as desired.
3. Sew an 18" x 1 1/2" polka-dot Strip on the right side of the top left Chicken block. Sew an 18" x 1 1/2" polka-dot Strip on the left side of the bottom right Chicken block.
4. Sew a 10" x 1 1/2" polka-dot Strip to the bottom of the top right Chicken. Sew a 10" x 1 1/2" polka-dot Strip to the top of the bottom left Chicken block.
5. Sew all four Chicken blocks together.
6. Sew the 28" x 1 1/2" polka-dot Strips to the sides of the quilt top. Then sew the 22" x 1 1/2" polka-dot Strips to the top and the bottom of the quilt top. Press.

Finishing:

1. Layer the backing, batting and quilt top. Quilt by hand or machine, as desired.
2. Sew binding strips together to form one long strip. Fold wrong sides together, lengthwise, and press.
3. With a 1/4" seam, sew the raw edges of the binding to the edges of the right side of the quilt. Turn the folded edge of the binding to the back side of the quilt and stitch in place by hand, mitering the corners.
