  • Be mindful of directional prints.

Piecing the Quilt:

  1. Sew a pair of tan Half-Square Triangles to a Chevron to form a rectangle. Repeat until all Half-Square Triangles are sewn to Chevrons. Press.
  2. Arrange the rectangles in rows, 12 across by 6 down.
  3. Sew the 12 rectangles together to form a row. Press. Repeat to form 5 more rows.
  4. Sew the 6 rows together to form the quilt center. Press.
  5. Measure the quilt center from the top to the bottom in several locations. Add those measurements together and divide by the number of measurements taken. Cut two 6 1/2" wide border strips to this length and sew to the sides of the quilt. You may need to sew two strips together before cutting the length. Press.
  6. Measure the quilt from side to side in several locations. Add those measurements together and divide by the number of measurements taken. Cut two 6 1/2" wide border strips to this length and sew to the top and bottom of the quilt. Press.
  7. Place a Hexagon and four Circles at the end of each row of Chevrons to form a snake head. Heat fuse in place with an iron and stitch around as desired.

Finishing:

  1. Layer the backing, batting and quilt top. Quilt by hand or machine, as desired.
  2. Sew binding strips together to form one long strip. Fold wrong sides together, lengthwise, and press.
  3. With a 1/4" seam, sew the raw edges of the binding to the edges of the right side of the quilt. Turn the folded edge of the binding to the back side of the quilt and stitch in place by hand, mitering the corners.
