Urban Playground Quilt

Fabric Requirements:

Notes:

• Finished Size: 31" x 38 1/2"
• All seam allowances are 1/4" unless noted.
• * = Fabric must be cut all face up or face down. Do not cut mirror images.
• WOF = width of fabric

Piecing the Quilt:

1. Sew a pair of orange and brown print Right Triangles together along the diagonal seam to form a 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" rectangle. See Diagram 1. Press the seams open. Repeat three times.
2. Sew a 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" lime rectangle onto the left side of the pieced 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" rectangle form a square. See Diagram 2.
3. Sew four of these units together to form an orange star block. See Diagram 3. Set block aside.
4. Sew remaining lime and brown print 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" rectangles together to form 4 1/2" squares.
5. Sew four 4 1/2" pieced blocks together with the lime on the left side. See Diagram 4.
6. Arrange the blocks on the floor or a design wall four across by five down. Insert orange star block in the fourth row down and the third row across.
7. Sew blocks into rows. Press.
8. Sew the rows together to form the quilt top. Press.

Finishing:

1. Layer the backing, batting and quilt top. Quilt by hand or machine, as desired.
2. Sew binding strips together to form one long strip. Fold wrong sides together lengthwise and press.
3. With a 1/4" seam, sew the raw edges of the binding to the edges of the right side of the quilt. Turn the folded edge of the binding to the back side of the quilt and stitch in place by hand, mitering the corners.
