Sweet for You Pineapple Card

1. Cut a 4" x 10 1/2" piece of dark aqua Swiss dot cardstock, and fold it in half to create card base.
2. Cut a 3 3/4" x 5" piece of patterned paper from the Geometrics Cardstock Pad. (*Note: This is a vertical standing card. Cut the patterned paper so that the pattern aligns vertically as desired.) With an ink blending tool, add brown ink to the edge of the patterned paper to create a dimensional effect. Center and adhere the patterned paper to the front of the card base with double-sided tape.
3. Cut a 3 1/4" x 4" piece of watercolor paper. With a watercolor palette and paintbrush, add a desired layer of colors in aqua and yellow. Make sure to leave a small perimeter of white around the outside edge. Set it aside to dry. Once dry, use an ink blending tool to add aqua ink to the outside edge of the watercolor paper for a dimensional effect. Center and adhere the watercolor paper with double-sided tape to the top of the patterned paper on the card base.
4. Cut a 5" x 6" piece of watercolor paper. Fold it in half vertically. Die-cut the pineapple shape from the Card, Pineapple Fold-a-Long set by placing the folded edge of the watercolor paper along the crease line on the outer third of the pineapple die. The open side of the watercolor paper should be facing away from the straight edge of the die. (Note: It might help to use a small piece of washi tape to hold the folded edge of the paper down on the die so that it will not move while you run it through the machine.) Use the Chrome Precision Base Plate with the Standard Multipurpose Platform to die-cut the pineapple out of the watercolor paper.
5. Using a watercolor palette and a paintbrush, paint the pineapple die-cut a desired shade of yellow for the base and aqua green for the leaves. Set the pineapple aside to dry.
6. Once the pineapple die-cut is dry, emboss the bottom half with the Pineapple Texture embossing folder. Place the bottom half of the pineapple die-cut in the embossing folder so that the leaves hang outside of the folder.
7. To create a realistic effect, use ink blending tools to add color along the raised texture on the pineapple. (Note: The sample project uses shades of yellow, aqua and brown in various areas on the bottom half of the pineapple and shades of aqua and green on the leaves.)
8. Die-cut out of watercolor paper four of the full pineapple leaves from the Card, Pineapple Fold-a-Long set. Watercolor and ink the four leaves in the same manner as the leaves in step 5. Once dry, adhere the two sets of leaves directly on top of the leaves on the pineapple die-cut with liquid adhesive. Only place adhesive on the center lower third of the die-cuts. To create a dimensional effect with the leaves, use the solid edge of the Die Pick to shape the leaves in various directions. Center and adhere the pineapple to the top of the watercolor paper on the card base with double-sided tape.
9. Die-cut out of cream cardstock three sets of the stacked flowers from the Card, Pineapple Fold-a-Long set. Use the Die Pick to shape the edges of each layer of flowers so that they appear dimensional once assembled. With an ink blending tool, add aqua ink to half of the flower layer edges and brown ink to the other half of the flower layer edges. Assemble and attach the flowers together with liquid adhesive by stacking them in layers, beginning each base with the largest layer and adhering the next layers by size. Create the appearance of a pollen center on each flower by piping dots of brown dimensional enamel paint to the center of the flower stack. Set aside to dry.
10. Die-cut three times out of white cardstock the word Sweet from the Card, Donut Fold-a-Long set. Adhere with liquid adhesive the words on top of each other to create a dimensional word. With an ink blending tool, create a monochromatic effect with aqua ink on the top layer of the word.
11. Cut a 1 1/2" x 3/4" black cardstock rectangle. Using the Stamper’s Secret Weapon, stamp the For You phrase from the Donuts for You set on top of the black cardstock rectangle using permanent white ink. Draw a white box around the outer edge of the black rectangle with a white gel pen. Adhere with double-sided tape the stamped black rectangle to the center, left side of the pineapple. Directly above the stamped black rectangle, adhere the layered word Sweet at a slight angle using liquid adhesive.
12. Die-cut out of black cardstock two of the small skinny leaves from the Card, Pineapple Fold-a-Long set. Use a white gel pen to add a dimensional effect on the perimeter of the leaves.
13. Adhere two of the stacked flower sets with liquid adhesive by bundling them to the bottom left side of the pineapple leaves on the card base. Attach the final set of stacked flowers to the flower bundle with an adhesive foam dot. (Note: Place a small dot of hot glue to the foam dot to make sure the foam dot securely adheres to the card base.) With liquid adhesive, adhere the two black leaves behind the flower stacks. Only place adhesive on the lower half of the black leaves so that you can create dimension with the top half of the leaves.
14. Tie a small piece of black and white twine into a bow. Adhere the bow directly below the bundled flowers with a small dab of hot glue.
