Mod Block Quilt

Fabric Requirements:

Notes:

• Finished Size: 45" x 54"
• All seam allowances are 1/4" unless noted.
• Fat 1/8 = approximately 9" x 22"
• WOF = width of fabric

Assembling the Project:

1. Stitch one colored 4 1/2" Square to one colored 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" Rectangle on the 4 1/2" side. Make 30 units. See Diagram 1.
2. Stitch one colored 2 1/2" Square to one colored 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" Rectangle on the 2 1/2" side. Make 30 units. See Diagram 2.
3. Stitch the units created in steps 1 and 2 together to create unit A, making sure the Squares line up diagonally. Repeat to make 30 unit A blocks.
4. Stitch one unit A to one white 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" Rectangle. Repeat to make 30 units. See Diagram 3.
5. Stitch one colored 3 1/2" Square to one white 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" Rectangle on the 3 1/2" side. Make 30 unit B blocks.
6. Stitch unit B to unit A, making sure the colored Squares line up diagonally. Make 30 blocks. See Diagram 4.
7. Arrange the blocks five across and six down to create the quilt top.
8. Sew the blocks together in rows.
9. Sews the rows together.

Finishing:

1. Layer the backing, batting and quilt top. Quilt by hand or machine as desired.
2. Sew binding Strips together to form one long Strip. Fold wrong sides together lengthwise, and press.
3. With a 1/4" seam, sew the raw edges of the binding to the edges of the right side of the quilt. Turn the folded edge of the binding to the back side of the quilt and stitch in place by hand, mitering the corners.
