Notes:
- Finished Size: 48" x 60"
- All seam allowances are 1/4" unless noted.
- WOF = width of fabric
- Each block is constructed in four triangle units.
Piecing the Blocks:
- For the triangle block unit, gather and arrange as shown the following: a dark teal tall wedge, a light aqua short wedge, a light gray tall triangle, light gray small triangle and a light peach small triangle (Diagram 1).
- Sew the light aqua short wedge to the right side of the light gray tall triangle. These pieces are dog-eared to easily align at the bottom edge. Press the seam allowance toward the short wedge.
- Sew the dark teal tall wedge to the opposite side of the tall triangle/short wedge unit. Press the seam allowance toward the tall wedge.
- Sew the light peach small triangle to the dark teal tall wedge. Sew the light gray small triangle to the light aqua short wedge. Press the seam allowances toward the wedges.
- Repeat steps 1-4 to make 60 triangle units. Follow Diagram 2 for color/fabric placement and number of units, make the remaining 20 triangle units.
- To complete the block, lay out four triangle units as shown in Diagram 3. Sew together in pairs, pressing the seam allowances open, and then sew the halves together. Repeat with the remaining triangle units to make the blocks shown.
- Arrange the blocks using the quilt photo as a guide. Sew the blocks in rows, and then sew the rows together, matching seams and placing a pin at each intersection to match the points.
Finishing:
- Cut off selvages, and sew the two pieces of the backing fabric together along the 54" edge to make the backing. Trim the piece to make a 54" x 66" backing.
- Layer the backing, batting and quilt top. Quilt by hand or machine as desired.
- Sew the binding Strips together to form one long Strip. Fold wrong sides together lengthwise, and press.
- With a 1/4" seam, sew the raw edges of the binding to the edges of the right side of the quilt. Turn the folded edge of the binding to the back side of the quilt and stitch in place by hand, mitering the corners.
