Circles Quilt

Fabric Requirements:

Notes:

• Finished Size: 45 1/2" x 54 1/2"
• All seam allowances are 1/4" unless noted.
• Fat 1/8 = approximately 9" x 22"
• Fat 1/4 = approximately 18" x 21"
• * = Adhere fusible adhesive to back of fabric before die-cutting the shapes.
• When using fat quarters, cut the 9 1/2" square and 8 1/4" square (for 8" circle) across 18" dimension.
• WOF = width of fabric

Piecing the Block:

4" Circle blocks:

1. Use the quilt photograph as a guide for fabric placement.
2. Center a 4" Circle on a 5 1/2" Square and heat fuse in place.
3. Use a small zigzag or decorative stitch to sew the Circle down permanently.
4. Repeat steps 2 through 3 until you have forty-eight 5 1/2" Squares with 4" Circles.

8" Circle blocks:

1. Use the quilt photograph as a guide for fabric placement.
2. Center an 8" Circle on a 10" Square and heat fuse in place.
3. Use a small zigzag or decorative stitch to sew the Circle down permanently.
4. Repeat steps 2 through 3 until you have eighteen 10" Squares with 8" Circles.

Assembling the Quilt:

1. The quilt is assembled in vertical rows.
2. Use the quilt photograph as a guide to lay out the quilt.
3. If there are two 5 1/2" blocks, they must be sewn together first before adding them to the row.
4. Sew all five rows together. Press.
5. Sew all the completed rows together to make the quilt top. Press.

Finishing:

1. Sew the two 1 1/2 yd pieces of the backing fabric together along the selvedge edge to make the backing.
2. Layer the backing, batting and quilt top. Quilt by hand or machine, as desired.
3. Sew the binding strips together to form one long strip. Fold the binding in half, lengthwise, with wrong sides together and press.
4. Sew the raw edges of the binding to the edges of the right side of the quilt. Turn the folded edge of the binding to the back side of the quilt and stitch in place by hand, mitering the corners.
