Piecing the Blocks:
- To make the quarter-square triangles for the star points, take two solid S72 Rocket blue 3" x 6" Triangles, one JP43 Aqua 3" x 6" Triangle and one JP44 Aqua 3" x 6" Triangle and sew together as shown in Diagram 1.
- Make sure the two rocket blue Triangles are correctly placed directly across from each other.
- Repeat steps 1 and 2 with the remaining solid blue Triangles. You will end up with 20 quarter-square triangles for the star points.
- Use two B23 Blue with gray dots 3" x 6" Triangles, one JP43 Aqua 3" x 6" Triangle and one JP44 Aqua 3" x 6" Triangle to make the second color of star points. Sew together as in steps 1 and 2. Repeat with these colors until you have 16 quarter-square triangles for star points.
- Use the photograph as a guide for fabric placement and Diagram 2 for construction make a nine patch using four S28 Arctic White 2 1/2" Squares, two JP41 Fuchsia 2 1/2" Squares, two JP39 Periwinkle 2 1/2" Squares and one JP42 Green 2 1/2" Squares. Repeat until you have nine-patches.
- To assemble each star, use the quilt photograph as a guide for fabric placement and Diagram 3 for construction. Sew the pieces together to make rows and then sew the three rows together to make the star. Repeat until you have nine stars.
Assembling the Top:
- Using the quilt photograph as a guide, arrange the blocks into three rows of three blocks.
- Sew each row together and then sew the rows together to make the quilt top.
Finishing:
- Sew the two 1 5/8 yd pieces together along the selvedge edge to make the backing.
- Layer the backing, batting and quilt top. Quilt by hand or machine, as desired.
- Sew the binding strips together to form one long strip. Fold the binding in half, lengthwise, with wrong sides together and press.
- Sew the raw edges of the binding to the edges of the right side of the quilt. Turn the folded edge of the binding to the back side of the quilt and stitch in place by hand, mitering the corners.
