Celebrate July With This Red, White, And Blue Dresdan Runner!

Hello wonderful quilters out there! It's Kathy here from the QSA Team inside Sizzix and I can't wait to share with you this wonderful Dresdan Runner we made for one of our favorite holidays! I absolutely love anything red, white, and blue, especially since I can leave up my décor through the whole summer!

I wanted to see what fun, new accessory I could add to my collection of red, white, and blue this year, so I went straight to my dies to see what I could find. The Dresden Plate by Missouri Star was just the thing.

I chose 5 red, white, and blue Fat 1/4's to my liking - feel free to change up the patterns if you'd like! Then, just cut out four Dresden Plates of each one and arrange them in any manner you find pleasing. Like this!

As I sewed the Dresden plates together into pairs, make sure to return each one to the layout as you go. Don't forget to leave the last seam of the circle unsown as well!

After quickly finding an orphan piece of leftover batting from another project I had lying around, I sandwiched my layers together. Wand with a simple stitch in the ditch quilting and viola! I was finished in no time.

This project required bias binding and I made sure to sew it to the back instead of the usual front side. Since this will be regularly washed, I decided to sew the binding down by machine. This afternoon of a project has brought me such joy and every time we BBQ, it will bring an extra smile to my face!

With just a few steps and one afternoon, you can make this too! Just look at the supplies below to get started on an amazing quilting project.
