Here at Sizzix, we love a wedding, and with wedding season in full swing handmade wedding stationery is becoming more popular than ever! We’re keen to give you some guidance on key information to include when you’re considering your stationery and what products you could use to create your own beautiful invitations, table décor, florals and more! So take a look at our wedding stationary must haves!

Bridesmaid/Groomsman proposals

Albeit a new tradition, Bridesmaid and Groomsman proposals are becoming pretty popular. What’s more special than asking those much-loved family members and besties to be a part of your big day?

Whilst you may not have decided the finer details of your day, when you drop these proposals on your nearest and dearest consider the color palette you're thinking of using on your special day. It would be perfect if the stationary of your proposals matched the stationary you plan to use on your big day! We have some gorgeous, colored Card and Envelope Packs that could make the perfect base for your creations right here.

Save the Dates and Invitations

When designing your Save the Dates and Wedding Invitations pay particular attention to the stand-out elements and color schemes you use, as these will set a precedent for the rest of your stationery. Believe it or not, the devil is in the detail and Stationary that matches, and is cohesive with the style of your Wedding is sure to be a winner! If your theme includes florals, why not use a 3D Textured Impressions Embossing Folder to add a detailed background to your invitations, this Abstract Flowers Embossing Folder is gorgeous. You could even add some intricately detailed trims to your invites using the Floral Celebrations Framelits® Die Cutting Set which we think is simply perfect.

Wedding Invite

In your invitations, be totally clear on offering information to your potential guests.

  • Consider having a Day and Evening Reception Slip so you can be specific as to which part of your big day they are invited to.
  • Have a Details Slip, this can include things like dress codes and travel and accommodation recommendations. It can also include gifts (do you have a gift list, or would you prefer donations towards a charity or honeymoon?), and (if you’ve confirmed them) your menu selections so guests can pick what they would like and can confirm dietary requirements.
  • RSVP slip – advise how you want to receive an RSVP. Do you want your guests to post it back? If so, then include a little area where they need to add a postage stamp. If you want them to email you or call, then provide the details in which they can do so.

Why not make your invites even more special by adding a bit of sparkle – take a look at these Sizzix Decorative Foils or the Sizzix Metallic Flakes. You could even complete your envelopes with some added detail using this beautiful Lace Envelope Liners Thinlits® Die Set.

Table Plan & Décor

Table Setting

Will you be having a table plan for your wedding breakfast, or have you decided on a more relaxed day where seating is a bit of a free for all?

Whilst there’s no doubt a table plan can be a little difficult to pull together at times, with traditions of who sits where (yes, there is a system to the Top Table) and did you know VIP guests are such a thing? What about accounting for family politics? Well, table plans usually work perfectly if you’re having a more formal sit-down wedding breakfast.

These days anything goes with the design of your table plan, you could want a large A2 or A1 board printed with the details, or smaller boards split down by tables. You may even choose to stencil onto items such as pallets or mirrors for a more rustic effect - something our Alphabet Dies are perfect for.

Other makes that you may want to consider are some decorative items for your table. Think about adding some handmade napkin rings or glass charms to your décor, perhaps using Shrink Plastic. You could even create some gorgeous DIY favor boxes to store little gifts for your guests. We have a cute collection of Box Dies perfect for creating your own favor boxes, discover them here!

Wedding Florals & Décor

Whilst it doesn’t strictly fit into the stationery category, handmade wedding décor may be another area you’re thinking of tackling yourself. This will allow you to save a little bit of money for the areas you want to spend more on.

We have oodles of ideas of how you can make a big impact using some of our gorgeous Dies, particularly our florals.

Floral decoration

Florals are a huge part of a wedding, be it your bouquet, table décor or even a DIY flower wall. Why not keep something you and your family can treasure as a memory of the greatest day of your life? The Gardenia Thinlits Die Set and the Orchid Thinlits Die Set are just a couple of the Die Cutting Sets that could be absolutely perfect for pulling together some beautiful blooms ahead of your big day!

Well, that’s our Wedding Stationery Must Haves all rounded up and ready for you to take a look at! We hope we’ve provided you with plenty of inspiration and ideas for which products you can use to achieve the right look and feel for your big day.
