Gosh, I love art. I can’t decide which type I enjoy making the most. Over the years I've come to see my indecision with art mediums not as a weakness, but as a strength. Embracing mixed media allows me to blend various art supplies harmoniously. It's a way for me to indulge in and appreciate multiple mediums simultaneously. The majority of my illustrations are watercolor on wood, combined with colored pencil, gouache, acrylic and ink.

My favorite subject matter is illustrative portraiture– I love painting eyes, women and bright colors, layering patterns within my work.

Art has been in my family for generations. My grandmother taught me how to watercolor, my mother is a ceramic artist, and now here I am. I even went ahead & married another artist, he’s a sign painter– clearly I can’t get enough of artistic types!

My grandma always used to say “Inspiration is for Amateurs”, which frankly I always thought was a tad bit harsh. Being a professional artist now, I understand this sentiment more than I’d like to admit. Though I am constantly inspired by the random things around me in this breathtakingly beautiful world.

My vision for these collections was to supply artists with elements that seamlessly integrate into their own artistic expression, rather than overshadowing them. This approach allows artists to blend these components with their own unique artistic voice. Each design in the collection serves a dual purpose: to enhance visual texture within artworks and to simplify intricate pattern making.

I focused on creating shapes that artists might find challenging to replicate freehand, whether due to their geometric precision or delicate intricacy. Complex stencils and stamps simplify tedious painting tasks, yielding effortless, polished results. This approach encourages artists to utilize the stamps and stencils as efficient tools in their creative process.

They were designed not as focal points, but as enhancements that ease the creation of intricate textures & patterns. By emphasizing both functionality and creativity in the designs, I aimed to provide artists with a way to streamline their workflow.

My artistic style is distinctly feminine and vibrant. I've refined my style from years of creating, learning, viewing and striving to be a better artist. My main advice for developing a unique style is to try new methods, techniques and art supplies. It’s key to growing an ever-evolving artistic style that matures alongside your skills as an artist.

I think that mixed media can be very overwhelming for artists because the possibilities are limitless. If you'd like to get into mixed media, start with whatever supply resonates most with you. Typically, something water-based is a great foundation, whether that be watercolor or acrylic and you can work up and out from there.

Because of the different qualities and attributes of combining supplies, there is a bit of a learning curve. Figuring out how to manipulate them and understanding how they complement or contrast with each other requires experimentation. And the best way to learn, is to literally just go for it. Don’t worry about creating a masterpiece, try to enjoy the process, and learn along the way. The art world can be a very pretentious place, but it doesn't have to be.
