Explore the Stencil Design Process with Olivia Rose!

Hi! I'm Sizzix Designer Olivia Rose and I'm so excited to show you one of my first stencil designs - 665265 Birds & Branches!

A very exciting Sizzix tool has launched, which means very exciting designs to work with it! The Sizzix Stencil and Stamp Tool will take your crafting experience to the next level!

As a designer I love exploring new things, and stencils are the latest venture for the Sizzix team.

I am especially excited that each stencilled image has multiple layers. Experimenting with inks, bold Sizzix Acrylic Paints, or eye-catching Effectz mediums creates a totally unique finish every time!

I love designing birds and I thought their natural textures and patterns would be perfect for a multi-layered stencil.

I started by sketching the layout, then gradually working out what each layer could be. The branches create a lovely background and, with the Stencil and Stamp tool, the bird will fit into place perfectly every time!

I love pairing this Stencil with the Sizzix stamps in the new launch. My favourite is Pete Hughes’ 665405 Sunnyside Sentiments #3, which has the phrase shown above. How perfect would this combination be for celebrating a graduation or a new job?!

Because each of our stencils is made up of four layers, you can really customise your project! You don't have to use every layer - try the bird on its own with beautiful combinations of colours and textured mediums!
